Who is eligible to apply?
- Louisiana students interested in healthcare careers — including pre‑med, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, allied health, public health, and related fields.
- High school juniors/seniors and college students (community college, university, or post‑bacc).
- First‑generation, low‑income, or underrepresented students who may not have access to mentors or healthcare connections.
- Students who demonstrate curiosity, commitment, or a desire to learn, even if you’re in the early stage of your journey.
- Students from any academic background — no minimum GPA required.
How The Process Works:
- The 1st application cycle opens December-March. The 2nd application cycle opens June-September. All accepted students must re-apply every 6 months.
- Students will be matched with a mentor if they are accepted.
- Mentors will meet with students virtually, introduce themselves, and set expectations.
- Mentors will complete regular check-ins and give guidance on classes, applications, study strategies, or career exploration.
- At the end of the 6 month period, students will have a reflection meeting with their mentor.
Expectations of Students:
- Students should come prepared to set goals, such as improving study habits, exploring career paths, preparing for applications, or building confidence.
- Professionalism matters — students should be respectful, responsive, and open to feedback.
- Students can reapply in future cycles if they aren’t matched the first time.
- Accepted students must reapply every 6 months.
